Wardrobe choices, constant visits to your OB/GYN, morning sickness and physical body changes, baby shower ideas, gift registry planning — the to-do list goes on and on for any new moms-to-be out there. Not to mention balancing all this with a full-time job (kudos to all the working moms out there).
With such a busy schedule that leaves little time for a free moment to yourself, it can be hard to schedule time for yourself to practice self-care. It can also be easy to feel mom guilt when you take any time to yourself to rest because you may feel bad about not being productive.
Actually, taking time for self-care is an extremely productive practice that can help prevent burnout, boost your mental health, and nourish your overall well-being. So no matter what’s on your busy to-do list as a preggo mom on a mission, try to schedule some time to decompress. If you already have kids at home, schedule a babysitter, take your little ones to a childcare center, or ask your loved ones for help.
Check out some of our favorite self-care tips below. Each one highlights the importance of self-care during your pregnancy journey. Read on to learn how to support your wellness.
Spa Time
Spa time can look like a luxurious, full-day excursion to your local spa to get all the works — a manicure, pedicure, and prenatal massage. Or, maybe you find time in your week to get a mani-pedi with your bestie or ask your partner to give you a relaxing massage as you cuddle in bed together.
Spa time can come at home, too, with a ten to 15-minute bath (as long as the water is lukewarm to warm instead of hot). Add some of our nourishing Belly & Body Bath Soak and a few drops of our Belly Oil to the water for a nutrient-rich at-home spa experience that can help your skin soak in all those nourishing vitamins to seal in moisture.
Quiet Time
Quiet time away from everyone else is an essential part of any self-care routine. Try to build time into your schedule to rest and relax. During this time, a nice way to feel extra zen and unplugged is to turn off social media and instead turn towards a good book to read. Maybe you can even join a book club to have people to bond with over your favorite reading material.
Listening to your favorite music or a good podcast, or watching a feel-good TV show, are also amazing ways to experience sacred quiet time during your pregnancy.
Meditation or Yoga
Setting aside time to meditate is a good way to practice grounding yourself and centering your emotions. Yoga is another excellent choice for coming into touch with your body, especially as you experience the physical body changes that come with any pregnancy throughout the trimesters.
Yoga is easy to do at home, with simple online videos. It may also be fun to join a class and do in-person yoga, which is a wonderful way to stay social and make new friends. And, even if you don’t get to the studio, it’s, at the very least, an awesome reason to buy maternity leggings.
Maintain Social Relationships
Let’s face it: Seeing friends and going out into the world may not be the first thing on your mind as your baby bump grows in size and you experience physical symptoms like back aches or swelling feet. However, staying in touch with friends is a form of self-care that can help uplift you and remind you how important your support network is to you.
Even if it means only seeing close friends for the time being, setting aside the occasional bestie date to chat and catch up is a great self-care strategy you can practice during your preggo moments.
Skincare Routine
A soothing face mask (or belly facial!) to cool off the skin, some rejuvenating facial serum to boost your glow, or some hydrating lotion like the Down, Girl Swell Relief that feels like you’re a sexy mermaid? Sounds wonderfully pampering, right?
Developing and maintaining a skincare routine during pregnancy is an excellent way to uphold self-care and ensure that you always try to pamper your body. Building a routine that includes products safe for pregnancy is a perfect way to help your skin glow to leave you feeling glamorous and stunning through all your trimesters.
Physical Activity
Just because you’re preggo and rocking that bump doesn’t mean that you have to stay sedentary! You can generally engage in physical activity, which will not only help increase your blood flow and keep you feeling healthy but can also help enhance your mental health.
Check out our top tips for safe exercise during pregnancy. Talking to your healthcare provider can also help when it comes to developing an exercise routine and will aid in you feeling the safest while still getting the most out of your workouts.
Crafts
Staying busy with your hands is another form of self-care, especially if it’s doing something you love. Taking time to engage with your creative side is an amazing form of self-expression and a great self-care to-do list item to work into your pregnancy routine.
There are a ton of ways to get crafty, including coloring books for adults, painting, collaging, or drawing. It may be fun to invite a friend or two to an art event, such as a paint-your-own pottery class. Speaking of class, consider signing up for a local art class to keep busy and have fun learning some cool new art techniques.
Date Night
Just because you’re preggo doesn’t mean the romance has to die down! We know you’re busy and going through a lot of body changes that can leave you feeling exhausted, mama. But that’s why keeping that romance flame kindled with your partner is more important than ever.
Schedule some time to go out on a date together to make sure that you two are still spending some special and intimate alone time together. It may be fun to set a rule where you don’t talk about your new babe for a bit and focus on each other and having fun.
Want to feel glamorously chic and hot for your date? We’ve got you covered with the most elegant fits for a night out on the town together. Our Ricky Slip Dress is a fashionable choice that gracefully drapes over your bump while simultaneously fitting your form in all the perfect places to leave you feeling sexy.

Always Make Time To Pamper Yourself
These self-care strategies are just a few of our favorites that can help you feel relaxed and soothed during your pregnancy. Remember that self-care looks different for every person and depends on their unique personality and special desires.
While social interactions and fun events in public might be fun for one mom-to-be, it may be more desirable for another expectant mother to stay in and read her favorite book with her feet up in cozy Compression Socks while she flips through her favorite magazine.
Whatever your preference for self-care strategies, we’re here to support you every step of the way.
